Ok here’s my shameless plug for Simon’s last album, performed by the extremely awesome Straight No Chaser Big Band. It’s awesome. Here’s how Simon himself described it:

In August 2012 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour, a Glioblastoma Multiforme which is, unfortunately, malignant.

The idea for this album developed when time became very precious as a result of this illness. The desire to have a permanent record of these pieces became important to me. These are all compositions that I have written for the band over the last 2 years. Some of them were played once or twice in public, many of them were rehearsed and never performed.

I could not have done any of this without the skill and support of the talented and generous musicians that have contributed to this recording. …

I hope you enjoy the music.

With lots of love

Simon D’souza

Excellent music written by an excellent composer, performed by an excellent band. What more could you possibly wish for? A good cause? No problem. All money goes to charities. The money will be shared out between Brains Tumor Trust (45%), St Peters and St James Hospice (45%) and Scope (10%), the charity for people with disabilities.

I can’t for the life of me figure out a better thing to throw money at!
