Swedish developer SLX Games brings first 3D MMO to Facebook

Göteborg, Sweden September 16, 2010

Swedish social game developer SLX Games extends Facebook’s reach into 3D virtual space by embedding 3D MMO ‘Nord’ in Facebook. Nord is a social gaming platform which utilizes Java™ technology to enable seamless browser integration of hardware-accelerated graphics on Windows, Mac and Linux. The move is aimed at extending Facebook’s social reach into 3D, where people can meet and socialize in a way that text-based communication does not allow. Nord allows players to design the vast virtual world and to fill it with their own parties and events.

“Merging with Facebook is a natural and logical step for Nord that allows us to tap into Facebook’s social potential and to expand upon it. It is an honor for us to be the first virtual world on Facebook that allows users to hang out with their friends in full 3D.”

Says Markus Larsson, co-founder of SLX Games.

Being built on a complete cross-platform philosophy, Nord stands out as one of the few 3D applications that give players full access from any computer, anywhere. Nord is free from manual installation and is automatically updated on launch without any need for user interaction. Markus Larsson continues:

“With Nord, platform incompatibility is a thing of the past. It is our firm belief that users are no longer OK with apps that only support a fragment of all platforms available. People want to stay connected wherever they are.”

Bravo Markus and team! Nord on Facebook has really opeend up the possibilities for me to include more of my friends in the environment that I have thoroughly enjoyed for the past 16 months. To those that have not yet discovered the magic of Nord, what are you waiting for? See you in Nord
